New 5 Star Reviews for The Lifeblood of Ill-fated Women

Hi all,

Here are two new reviews in for THE LIFEBLOOD OF ILL-FATED WOMEN.

Reviewed By Ray Simmons for Readers’ Favorite - 5 Stars!

I love mythology. Greek mythology is the type most seen in pop culture, but for me all mythologies are interesting. My favorite is Norse mythology. There is something brave and tragic built into it and it is built around a very fierce warrior culture. For all those fans of Vikings and other things Norse, The Lifeblood of Ill-fated Women by Kevin James Breaux is a great book to read. I loved it. I am a fan of history and warrior cultures and this book features enough action to satisfy my love of historical times and my love of a good fight. I found it well written and action oriented. And my favorite aspect is that the protagonist is a woman.

Astrid is fierce and loyal from the very beginning of The Lifeblood of Ill-fated Women. But what is so enjoyable about her is that she has plenty of room for personal growth and Kevin James Breaux guides us along her personal journey with the pen of a master craftsman. The plot and her personal journey are well written and done skillfully. All the characters are totally believable for the time and culture in which the story takes place. A great book all round. I think this one will be a surprise sleeper. It has all the characteristics of a book that will grow in reputation and popularity until it becomes a best seller. Good writing, good characters, and a great tale will keep Kevin James Breaux moving steadily up the bestseller ranks.

Reviewed By Ruffina Oserio for Readers’ Favorite - 5 Stars!

The Lifeblood of Ill-fated Women by Kevin James Breaux is a glorious tale of war and bravery, a story of a female Viking warrior who finds herself in a very tight and challenging situation. Growing up beside her father, Astrid the White has learned the art of war from the very best in the land, and has harnessed her skills so well that she gains the reputation as one of the finest fighters among the Vikings. But when she wakes up in the strange city of Birka, to the sound of war, she knows something must be wrong. She quickly discovers that it’s not a test from the gods or her father to have her prove herself, but staying alive. But can she win a battle against the monsters, the creatures seething with darkness and inconceivable strength?

This is an incredible book that poignantly represents the Viking spirit, crafted with wonderful characters like Astrid, Kol, Yrsa and many others. The Lifeblood of Ill-fated Women will transport readers into a world with the kind of violence and warfare only the Vikings know. The plot is fast-paced, constructed with short chapters that are quick to read, all packed with intense action. Kevin James Breaux stands out as a master of his craft, and the writing is exquisite, laced with vivid descriptions that allow readers to penetrate the minds of the characters and to relive the electrifying actions in their imaginations. I enjoyed the references to Viking lore and mythology, especially the part that Odin, the father of all the Vikings, plays in the life of the characters, and the powerful quest for Valhalla that throbs within their breasts. This is a gripping story that reads like a great movie.

Kevin James Breaux Artist and Author and Painter and Photographer...

Hi all,

Time for some deep thoughts. :)

For a long time now, I have tried to separate the different kinds of art I do: comic book illustration, painting, figure photography, writing...etc. I mean, I really kept my writing FAR separate from my fine art. In some ways, I did not want one to effect the other negatively. But why would I think that way?

When I graduated from college, I had three websites. One for my comic book art and illustrations. Another was for my fine art figure photography business (which often included nude work).  And lastly, another website called BRO WEB DESIGNS for my pro graphic and web design work. Each site had its own portfolio of my work. I was very proud of this. I even had business cards for each of them.

example

In college, I often had teachers who shamed me for the kind of art I was doing. In BCCC, one teacher made it sound like comic book art was the worst thing on the planet. She even stated, in her syllabus, NO COMIC ART...Kevin. (yep, directed at me!)

In Tyler School of Art, I was made to feel bad that I photographed nude models, when we drew from nude models every week. So I guess that explains some of my fear. But why teach fear in art school? It makes no sense to me.

Over the years, I took down my different websites when my artistic or life focus changed. And sadly, computers crashed and backups failed...and ZIP disks.... don't get me started on them. So I lost a lot of my old work. Scans of comic book illustrations I was commissioned for...all gone. I went through a lot of my old disks the other day, all I could find was one Tomb Raider pen and ink pinup. Where were the dozens of Vampirellas I did? (yes. dozens)

So for me to start to blend the different aspects of my artistic life together and show them all in one place like Facebook has really been a big step. You can also see my different projects in the list below:

Prints and framed book cover art and photography here.  https://society6.com/kevinjamesbreaux

Author site with a fine art tab here. http://www.kevinbreaux.com

Bringing together my art and my writing... yeah... I never thought that would ever happen. But it is. I even have a fine art tab on my author website now.

Growth. It happens.

Thanks all,

New Editions, Sequels in Progress, Giveaways coming!

Hi all,

Updates!

THE LIFEBLOOD OF ILL-FATED WOMEN (LBIFW) has a new edition, with some typos cleaned up. The new edition is live in paperback and kindle formats. Glad to have had those typos caught and handled so quickly.

The sequel to ONE SMOKING HOT FAIRY TAIL (OSHFT) is called TWO POLLUTED BLACK-HEART ROMANCES. It is currently being proofread. And then one last read by me and it will be ready. The cover art is being designed right now too. There should be a reveal of that in April. The book should be ready by end of May.

What book is being written next? The sequel to LBIFW is in an early draft. :)

A new giveaway will start next weekend for LBIFW, but be warned, it will be for three signed editions of the 1st printing of Lifeblood. So it will have the typos. But you first edition collectors may not care. :)

Hoping to set up some store signings soon. As well as pitch some comic book companies.

Still need more readers and more reviews. So please, check out my works, if you have not already.

Thanks all,

The Lifeblood of Ill-fated Women now out in Paperback from Kevin James Breaux

Hi all!

I am excited to announce the release of my newest book. THE LIFEBLOOD OF ILL-FATED WOMEN. Book one in a new series. This is a Dark Fantasy novel set in the Viking Age with elements or horror and even some romance.

http://a.co/az1JsaM

The book was just released today. So far you can only find it in print form at Amazon.com

Here is a direct link.

For Astrid, there is no greater honor than dying as a true Viking warrior and ascending to Valhalla. She anticipates it in every battle and is always eager for the next fight. When she hears the sounds of war outside her father’s stronghold of Birka, she answers the call. But a golden light envelops her, and she is suddenly gone.

If that light had taken her to Valhalla, she would have been at peace.
Instead, this golden light dumps her into a snowy, awful, godforsaken land. Astrid has no idea where she is or how she got here. She begins to suspect that she is in Hel, the underworld of Norse mythology. As Astrid searches for her home and family, a farmer, Warren, comes to her aid. Astrid doesn’t trust him at first, but she will have to rely on Warren and other companions when her destiny reveals itself.
The Lifeblood of Ill-fated Women (LBIFW) has its own blog.

Hope you all enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed writing it.
